TBT — Access Control

A fully integrated access control and video intercom system for a house of worship — connecting every door, the vehicle gate, and the intercom into a single cloud-managed platform with mobile credentials and remote management.

The challenge

What needed to change

TBT's existing gate intercom operated as a standalone system with no integration to the building's access control. The intercom provided no video capability and delivered poor audio performance, making it difficult for staff to identify and communicate with visitors at the gate. Managing access required dealing with separate systems for the gate, the doors, and the intercom — creating unnecessary complexity and increasing the risk of security gaps.

The solution

What we delivered

Media Nexus designed and installed a fully integrated access control and video intercom system built on PDK's cloud-based access control platform with high-security encryption and mobile credential support. A BAS-IP video intercom was installed at the gate, fully integrated with the PDK access control system and the gate operator. All doors throughout the facility were connected to the same PDK system, creating a single unified platform. The video intercom provides clear audio and video communication with visitors, and staff can grant or deny access remotely from any device with an internet connection.

The outcome

The result

TBT now operates with a fully integrated security system where every door, the vehicle gate, and the video intercom are managed from a single cloud-based platform. Credentials are managed in one place and synchronized across all sub-systems — no more separate databases or manual coordination between systems. Staff can schedule recurring events for automatic door and gate unlocking — for example, opening the main entrance before services and locking it afterward — eliminating the need for someone to be physically present. When a visitor rings the intercom at the gate, staff receive the call directly on their mobile devices with live video, allowing them to see and speak with the visitor and grant access from anywhere. The system provides both the security and the operational flexibility that a modern house of worship requires.
