A comprehensive surveillance and network infrastructure overhaul for a multi-building shopping center — 45 high-resolution cameras, fiber-optic connectivity between buildings, and enterprise-grade storage designed to eliminate blind spots and deter property damage.

What needed to change
Chamblee Plaza was experiencing recurring trespassing incidents that resulted in property damage and vandalized vehicles across the shopping center's front, back, and parking areas. The existing coverage was insufficient, leaving significant gaps that made it difficult to identify individuals, document incidents, and provide evidence to law enforcement. Property management needed a reliable, always-on surveillance system that could cover the entire footprint without blind spots.
The solution
What we delivered
Media Nexus designed and installed a fiber-optic-connected surveillance network spanning the entire shopping center. The backbone uses Ubiquiti network infrastructure with multiple IDFs, managed switches, and an enterprise-level UDM Pro firewall connecting all buildings over fiber. Forty-five 8MP security cameras with advanced analytics were strategically positioned to cover every storefront, service corridor, and parking area. Three 32MP 180-degree optical panoramic cameras were deployed to provide seamless, wide-angle coverage of the parking lot — eliminating the gaps that individual cameras would leave between fixed positions. Five NVRs, each with 48TB of storage, were configured for long-term retention, redundancy, and backup — ensuring that footage is always available when needed.

Chamblee Plaza now operates with 24/7 active monitoring powered by advanced analytics that generate real-time alerts for unusual activity. Property management can review incidents quickly, provide clear evidence to authorities, and deter future trespassing simply by the visible presence of a comprehensive, professionally installed system. The fiber-connected infrastructure also provides a scalable foundation for adding cameras or other connected systems as the property's needs evolve.
